Date: September 19, 2018

Time:
9:00PM - 10:00PM Mountain Time [COMPLETED]

Purpose of Work:
A fault has been identified in the redundant supervisory module of our 'all-flash' Nimble SAN module which can cause a spontaneous restart of the unit. The purpose of this work is to replace the faulted controller module in a controlled and seamless manner.

Impact of Work:
The primary impact is a temporary loss of redundancy.  The Nimble storage array is a dual controller system. The replacement procedure involves physically removing the faulty, offline unit and replacing with a vendor provided spare. The primary, live controller module is expected to handle the workload during the brief period required to replace the faulty module. The entire process is expected to be transparent to all effected users. To be clear, this event only effects private, dedicated cloud users and virtual machine users who have specifically chosen systems using 'all-flash' SAN storage. Customers with systems using standard hybrid SAN storage are not effected by this event.

UPDATE: This event has been completed without incident.
